I’m a sucker for Hometown USA! http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/hometownUSA.html
I was so excited I forgot to include my zip code: 75773.
I love Pingoiun Double for its versatility and softness, but I think Lion Brand chunky has great color combos and you can’t beat that when making smaller pieces in order to give it some pazzaz !
I don’t use bulky yarn too often so can’t really say that I have a favorite, but last year I made more than dozen cowls for gifts using a bulky alpaca mix that I found at Hobby Lobby and really enjoyed it.
When I saw this book online a few days ago, I thought about picking it up. I read the review of the book, but it is a pretty short review. It didn’t really help me to decide whether to get this one or not.
I like Lion brand Wool Ease thick and quick, use it all of the time ,and it’s readily available in my local stores. Htt://www.lionbrandyarn.com .
I like any bulky alpaca for its bouncy, soft feel! Probably in a warm earth color or red!
I love love love Cascade Yarns Baby Alpaca. It is so much fun to feel in my hands as I knit with it. I could use only this yarn for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy.

I used to LOVE Lion Brand’s BIG yarn, but it’s been discontinued, sadly. I came across some bright colors at a discount/close-out store, and hoarded it for quite some time. I finally found the perfect project (giant versions of an amigurumi pattern), so I’ll be saying goodbye to it.
As a replacement, I’ve been using 2 other Lion Brand yarns (although they are not quite as bulky as the BIG yarn). Both are available online and in my local craft stores:
Wool-Ease Thick & Quick

While I could still spin on my Schacht Ladybug spinning wheel-before my left leg started to develop paralysis, I would have said that My Own Homespun Chunky Yarns were the ones that I preferred over any other…

But, as I cannot spin right now-if my wheel sells, I’ll get an electric spinning wheel-no treadling…lol.
I was asked to Crochet a nice soft throw for my Arnold Chiari Malformation Support Group’s annual Charity Walk for Wishes and Rainbows-which is a charity that helps children with Chiari malformations-The throw that I made was for an auction and I’m pleased to say they made over $85 on it as the yarn cost just under that to make it.
My favorite Chunky yarn is the Lion Brand Hometown USA Yarns. It’s a very soft thick acrylic yarn and easy to wash and dry on low.
This yarn is soft enough to think that it is an Alpaca/Wool Blend, yet has a lovely drape and hand as you crochet with it or I’m sure knit with it. It has Great Color Choices and Is a fast work up due to it’s thickness.
I actually was getting too warm making the throw as it was over my legs and it was hot out two weeks ago.
Here’s the site: http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/hometownUSA.html
As it had to be okay for Anyone’s decor, I chose to make the throw in Houston Cream and Cheyenne Wild Iris as my highligted rows. It turned out beautifully and I made it up as I went along, using no pattern. But-this time I got pictures of what I made and wrote down all the stitches, so maybe I’ll publish it.
PS-I don’t expect to win, but it’s fun entering. I’ve never won anything except friendship from others in my whole entire life. Blessings and good luck to everyone who enters!

My favorite is Bernat Bamboo Chunky Yarn. I’m making my granddaughter a sweater in Lotus
My favorite chunky has to be Homespun made by Lion Brand yarns. It is so yummy. The on site description says it perfectly…”Article # 790
Soft, silky and beautiful! A uniquely textured yarn that works up quickly and easily. From shawls to sweaters to throws, this yarn can’t be beat for softness and sheer touch-ability. With solids, heathers, and beautiful self-striping “painterly” colors, Homespun comes in gorgeous shades you’ll love.
Please note that some colors have long, slow color variations that cause them to subtly stripe. This is deliberate and adds to the beauty of the finished garment; such yarns are designated as our ‘painterly’ colors.”
http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/homespun.htm ooops…I forgot my yarn link…sorry!!

I mostly work with WW yarn for charity hats and scarves and lately it seems there has been a baby boom, so using alot of the thinner yarns for layettes and afghans. However when I do run across a pattern that requires a bulky yarn, I chose hometown because my local JoAnn’s has a wonderful selection of colors.
