LACY CROCHET – A Book Review

I ordered this book, sign unseen, because of its name and because it is a Japanese Crafts book. I have always admired Japanese designed crochet and thought this would be a nice addition to my library.

Sadly, although the book is attractive and has nice color pictures and symbol charts, I could find nothing in the book that is lacy! There is filet, booties, potholders, sachets, squares, and a few other motifs. I was expecting lace, lacy stuff, thread designs rather than yarn.

The corsage on page 19 is really pretty with the gerbera and rose. But the rose is shown in brown thread! Who wants a brown rose??? Not much bang for your buck with this book. Disappointing.

A friend suggested that the misleading title might be the result of poor translation from Japanese to English.  I hope so.

eventhough I could not understand the language. Always I wish, one day I will also be able to make the things displayed in that blog.
