THE CRAFTGOSSIP BLOG NETWORK

Here’s a republication of my May 15 post with rules and blocks.  You have about TWO WEEKS left to go on this contest.  I have a BUNCH of new crochet leaflets and other mags (& maybe some yarn) from my stash for the prize.  Don’t Delay - Crochet It Today!!

From May 15, 2007:

Here are a few of my favorite squares - free patterns on the internet - that can be used by themselves or combined to create afghans, sweaters, slippers, scarves, etc. Use your imagination and your stash to create something wonderful.

Take a pic of your ‘masterpiece’ and email it to me. I’ll post the pix that I receive that use one of the squares pictured below. What’s in it for you?

I’ll send some of my stash of crochet books, yarn, or magazines (at least $50 worth altho’ the books and mags may be gently used) to the person I think has used the pattern in the most creative way.

It’s okay if you use more than one square in your creation - but please use ONLY ONE of the squares I’m showing below to be eligible for this little contest.

Contest begins today and ends July 15, 2007. So, get your yarn and hooks ready, you’ve got about two months!

Disclaimer: I’m the only judge. I have my biases. That’s just the way it is ;-).

    Hi JD,
I will be doing all the squares and then maybe take part in your contest.I love doing this type of thing.I am right now bogged down with a lot of exchanges from another forum and am busy with some quilting too.

JD, the squares look so beautiful. Wish I could work them immediately. Because of the heat and my treatment, I am a little handicapped now. I plan to do them when it is a little cool here. Thanks a lot for the links.

Hello..Just out of curiosity, I had already started a blanket with a couple of these squares in it. Also, I have other squares in it from other websites. Does that disqualify me from entering?

TRESIA, how exciting that you had already found these squares and are using them to make something wonderful.  While I look very forward to seeing your finished project(s), I had noted in the ‘rules’ that to enter the contest phase, only one of the chosen squares should be used.  Will you share your blanket with us anyway (please…)?jd

Enjoy sewing & crochet on same level, because one complements the other so nicely.
Been crocheting this spring ‘93, during a bout with pneumonia DH threatened to hospitalized me if I didn’t slow down (type A)
I had him take to store, quickly I picked up 3 items copy of Crochet Fantasy, a hook & a ball of thread. Literally taught myself to crochet but only with thread due to several surgeries on hands. Just found your “square section” & planning a simple summer top & also a tote bag.My peeve is when someone thinks (or not) that crocheting is cheap or worst free.
    Till later
    Carmen
