I always triple-check the gifts when my children take them to school to make sure they have the correct thing for the correct teacher. Why?  It all started when I was a freshman in high school and had to pick up a special gift for my teacher. My mom had cooked up a batch of homemade caramel sauce and put it into a cute little jar for me to take. But I was running late, and in a rush to get to school on time, I accidentally grabbed a bottle of opened sauce that we had been eating from the fridge instead.

When I got to school, I presented the homemade caramel sauce to my teacher. She was obviously confused as half of it was missing and it had drizzled down the sized. I quickly tried to explain the mix-up, but before I could finish, she burst out laughing. I was embarrassed at first, but then I started to laugh too.

My teacher was so understanding and kind about the whole situation. She even said she could use the sauce for her lunch. We had a good laugh about it, and but I was mortified.

After that day, I always made sure to be more careful when picking up gifts for my teachers. I learned that it’s better to double-check before leaving the house and that it’s important to always be kind and understanding to others.
