20 Keyhole Scarf Crochet Patterns

May 1, 2023 by Shellie Wilson

Welcome to our collection of 20 keyhole scarf crochet patterns! Keyhole scarves are versatile and stylish accessory that can be worn all year round. They are made with a small opening, or keyhole, in the center of the scarf, which allows the scarf to be worn in a variety of ways. The keyhole can be used to secure the scarf around the neck, or it can be left open for a more relaxed and laid-back look.

Keyhole scarves have several advantages over traditional scarves. They are easier to put on and take off, and they stay in place better than traditional scarves, which can slide around or come undone. They are also a practical choice for colder weather, as the keyhole can be used to tuck the scarf in for extra warmth. Additionally, keyhole scarves come in a wide range of styles, colors, and materials, so there is something to suit every taste and occasion.

In this collection, we have gathered a selection of 20 keyhole scarf crochet patterns that are easy to make and suitable for a wide range of skill levels. Whether you are a beginner crocheter looking for a simple project or an experienced crafter looking for a new challenge, you will find something to suit your skills and interests. From classic and elegant designs to playful and colorful patterns, there is a keyhole scarf for every style and taste.

To get you started, here is a quick and easy crochet pattern for a keyhole scarf:

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn (approximately 200 yards)
  • Crochet hook size H/8 (5.0 mm)
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

Gauge:

  • 4 inches = 14 single crochet stitches

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms.
  • The scarf is worked in rows, so you will need to turn your work at the end of each row.

Instructions:

  1. Chain 60 stitches.
  2. Single crochet in the second chain from the hook and in each chain across (59 stitches total).
  3. Chain 1 and turn your work. Single crochet in each stitch across.
  4. Repeat step 3 until the scarf reaches your desired length.
  5. To create the keyhole, work the next row as follows: Single crochet in the first 20 stitches, chain 12, skip the next 19 stitches, single crochet in the last 20 stitches.
  6. Chain 1 and turn your work. Single crochet in each stitch across, including the chain stitches.
  7. Repeat step 6 until the keyhole is the desired length.
  8. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Your keyhole scarf is now complete! You can customize it by using different colors or by adding tassels or fringe to the ends. Enjoy wearing your new scarf and staying warm and stylish all year round!
