Mug rugs were so popular at Christmas time I thought I would share these evergreen mug rugs for any time of the year. All of these mug rugs are Crochet patterns and are perfect for gift giving. Unlike crochet coasters, where you really need to gift them in a set of 4 coasters or more, it is totally acceptable to just gift one of these mug rugs. Add a mug and some hot Chocolate sachets or a Coffee gift card and you have yourself an easy handmade gift.
So what are mug rugs? basically oversized coasters, They sit under your mug the same as a coaster, it does allow a little extra space for your choc chip cookies too. Originally they were made to mimic a floor rug, so rectangle in shape but as with all fun crochet things, they have evolved into something far more creative with multiple shapes and designs being created by crochet designers.
All of these crochet patterns are free, except for a few in the holiday Christmas section. If you find a unique mug pattern, pop back here and share it with us by adding a link in the comments below.
One of my favorite things I did last year was to make the Halloween mug rugs and gift them with some Pumpkin spice sachets and a nice mug.
