Check out this stunning blanket! Sheri LB pointed it out to me. I have such great crochet friends who point out online lovelies to me. This one offers both a free pattern, a picture tutorial, as well as video help. It also is a flexible pattern that states it will work up nicely in any yarn using a suitably sized hook. You can get the details here.
I love the textural look of this blanket and its simple, but effective edging. Any more elaborate edging would detract from the main design, I think. This is also one pattern where I think I’d choose a solid cover over my typical favorite variegated or ombre yarn. Again, I think the multiple colors in a yarn might detract from the overall beauty o the stitch pattern. What do you think?
I would love to hear from anyone who’s already made this afghan. Better yet would be a photo of your project that I could add to this post. This one is special!
Note: Ravelry shows 17 projects for this pattern, but they do not show when I look for them. Am I missing something??

In your Ravelry search, look at the “Filter these projects” dropdown. Is the “Show projects with no photos” box ticked? That’s normally the option that prevents projects being returned for me when I do queries.

I started this blanket as a baby blanket for a family member and put it on the shelf when I realized it was going to be way too thick. The pattern took me a while to understand but once I got the hang of it (after about 3 rows) it was a nice repetitive pattern to work with. I used a super dark navy blue and I’m having a hard time seeing what I’m doing sometime, so I suggest a nice, solid pastel or like color if you know that FP and BP will be a problem with dark colored yarns.

Kayleigh,
I agree that a dark blue would be difficult to find your way through a complex pattern. Thanks for the info.

Jd- I did not make the blanket yet but did make a test swatch washcloth for this pattern and I do love it. As a washcloth it is heavy and sturdy enough for my husbands big hands as well as works great for large pieces. Since that worked so well, I plan on making my DH a blanket with this pattern as his diabetis is giving him problems with cold feet. Thank you for sharing this with us.
