This picture does not do justice to the graceful appearance of this trivet. Can you believe that it makes use of four wooden bangles? What a cool way to recycle something you might have on hand (or can get inexpensively) and turn it into something both attractive and practical.
Kadie, the talented crafter and mom of five over at 7 Alive All Livin’ In A Doublewide is the creator of this nifty project. She has a free pattern for us complete with a tutorial that I’ve featured before to assure that you can create a trivet just like hers. This one can be completed in an afternoon and would make a nice housewarming gift if you’re going to need one of those anytime soon. I’m not a fan of working with hemp, but I can’t really think of another fiber that would work as well for this. Cotton would be the next best choice, but no acrylic as it would melt, burning fingers and destroying counter tops if a hot dish is placed atop it.
