Duo Granny Bandana Pattern

January 23, 2024 by Shellie Wilson

The Duo Granny Bandana crochet pattern is an intriguing project that caught my eye with its unique design and vibrant colors. However, as I delved into creating it, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Does this really look like a dog bandana?” Let me share my thoughts.

Skill Level:

With its “easy” skill level, this pattern is accessible to crocheters of various skill levels, making it an appealing choice for both beginners and those with more experience. I appreciated the straightforward instructions and the chance to explore a slightly different crochet project.

Design:

The Duo Granny Bandana boasts a design that’s both unconventional and eye-catching. Crafted with Color Theory Yarn in shades of Dijon, Himalayan Salt, Peacock, Tourmaline, and Canyon, it certainly stands out. The granny square motif used in this bandana gives it a distinctive and somewhat bohemian appearance.

Now, here’s the question that nagged at me: Does it resemble a dog bandana? At first glance, it might not scream “dog accessory,” but I realized that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. Depending on your dog’s personality and your own style, it could be the perfect fit. Some dogs and their owners might love the uniqueness and artistic flair it brings.

Yarn Used:

The Color Theory Yarn used in this pattern is not only visually appealing but also a pleasure to work with. The vibrant colors and the softness of the yarn are definite highlights of this project. Even if it doesn’t immediately scream “dog bandana,” it’s undeniably cozy and comfortable, which is a plus for any furry friend.

Size and Fit:

One aspect to consider is the sizing. The bandana measures 17 inches in width, with a depth to the point of 9 inches and straps that are 18 inches long. It’s important to ensure that this size fits your dog comfortably. Depending on the breed and size of your furry companion, it might be a better fit for some dogs than others.

In conclusion, the Duo Granny Bandana is a crochet pattern that offers a unique and artistic take on the traditional dog bandana. While it may not fit the conventional mold of a dog accessory, its vibrant colors, soft yarn, and distinctive design might make it a perfect choice for certain dogs and their owners who appreciate a touch of creativity in their furry friend’s wardrobe. Ultimately, whether it looks like a dog bandana or not, it’s a crochet project that allows you to explore your creative side and add a dash of personality to your pup’s attire.

Let’s Make the Lowink Beginners Blanket TOGETHER

We’re kicking off June 1st (plenty of time to order your kit and hide it from your cat/kids/overzealous cleaning habits). Every Saturday, we’ll tackle a new chunk of the pattern together—with plenty of moral support for when your yarn does that weird loopy thing (you know the one).

Let’s Make the Let’s Make the Lowink Beginners Blanket

Here’s How This Works:

Week 1 (June 1-7):

  •  Procrastinator’s Shopping Spree
“Wait, I need what size hook?!” – Check your kit (or raid your stash)
“But what if I pick the wrong color?!” – Post your yarn options in the comments and let us vote!

Week 2 (June 8-14):

  •  The “Oh God, Why Is My Edge So Wobbly?” Phase
I’ll go live on Instagram to demo how to fix the classic beginner blunders (and yes, we’ll laugh about it afterward).

Week 3 (June 15-21):

  •  Mid-CAL Crisis Support Group
Hit a wall? Post a photo of your blanket-in-progress with your beverage of choice (wine counts as a “beverage”). Best “I Need More Coffee” face wins a surprise yarny gift!

Week 4 (June 22-30):

  •  Ta-Dah! Party
Show off your finished blanket—even if one corner looks suspiciously trapezoid-shaped. We’re here for the vibes, not geometry.

Why You Should Join:

  •  No perfection allowed (This is a judge-free zone)
  •  Real-time help (I’ll be stalking the hashtag #LowinkCAL daily)
  •  Sneaky giveaways (Because who doesn’t love free hooks?)

Comment “I’m in!” below—and tell me:
Are you using the kit yarn or going rogue with your stash?
What’s your crochet nemesis? (Mine is counting stitches after row 10…)

P.S. Tag that friend who “doesn’t have time” to learn crochet. We’ll change their minds!
