Free Crochet Pattern- Geometric Crochet Basket

February 25, 2019 by Shellie Wilson

So, if you’re anything like me, your space is overflowing with crochet yarn. It’s everywhere. Well, what better place to store your yarn than in a basket made of yarn?!

That’s exactly what the Geometric Crochet Basket is. You can store lots of stuff in this creative and durable basket. But my personal favorite is to put it next to my workstation, overflowing with my yarn haul. I also love that you can use this to tote around all your gear as well, perfect for coming and going to yoga class.

It’s got a stylish chevron pattern that will fit into any home’s decor, and it’s got handles for easy transport. Make a laundry bin for your granddaughter headed to college. Or make a stylish basket for neat storage in a small space. This basket will hold up to whatever you need it to be.

Why should you make your own shopping bags or totes?  Plastic bags are from the same source as all plastic: crude oil. So what is wrong with crude oil?

The manufacturing process emits considerable amounts of pollution, and the product is not biodegradable. On land, plastic bags are one of the most common types of litter worldwide.

As plastic bags are lightweight and float easily, this means they can travel long distances when picked up by the wind this includes landing in the ocean. Then wildlife gets tangled or ingests the bags, both in the sea and on land.

Make a difference and make your own shopping grocery bags.  Have plastic bags you need to re-use? Consider making these DIY upcycled plastic bag crafts.

Girls Crochet Handbags – A Sweet Little Crochet Bag Pattern With Vintage Charm

This is a cute, no-fuss crochet bag pattern that feels very handmade in the nicest possible way. The Girls Crochet Handbags project on CraftBits uses Lily Sugar’n Cream cotton yarn, a 5 mm hook, and simple single crochet rows to create an easy tote-style bag, finished with straps and little crochet flowers for extra detail.

What I like about this one is that it is simple enough to play around with. The pattern suggests changing colours to make stripes or edging, so it would be easy to match it to a child’s outfit or just use up those leftover cotton yarn bits we all keep pretending are “too useful to throw away.” The sample bag is worked to around 50 rows, so you can also tweak the size a little if needed.

It definitely has that older-style craft pattern feel, which can be charming, but it also means you may need to read through the instructions carefully before starting. Even one of the comments mentions the wording being a little confusing, so I would say this is best for crocheters who are comfortable filling in the occasional gap rather than absolute beginners wanting lots of hand-holding.
