I’m a huge fan of freeform crochet. It’s akin to abstract art to me. For those of us who must follow a pattern, this is not the path to follow. But, for those who like to think outside the box, for whom a pattern is a starting point or a mere suggestion, freeform offers many hours of pleasurable crocheting. When I ran across this beautiful freeform piece – with the bonus that its creator had kept a sort of diary of its creation, well, I knew I had to share it with you.
You can read about the making of this beautiful afghan here .
You’ll find lots of other good things on this blog, including some free crochet patterns. She even tells you how to use the Babette Blanket pattern to make a fantastic scarf!

That is lovely! I’m going to check out the site.
Freeform crochet… I’m learning more each day. I’m one that dislikes following a pattern. I’ve rarely did that with sewing, beadwork, paper crafts, etc. I recently started crocheting but I’m finding that I’m leaning towards the freeform approach also.
