These DIY crochet bats just shout Halloween, don’t they? And, for the kiddos, we need to have some of these to decorate the house for Halloween. Remember the Pigeon Lady in Mary Poppins? I think it would make a cool costume to have an overcoat covered with all kinds of bats to be the Bat Lady. With Batman so popular, Bat Lady should be a hit! See the link to this pattern below.
This cute bat is crocheted upside down since that’s how they hang in nature. Any dark color yarn would be perfect for this simple project. Stitch on the eyes with yarn yourself rather than using plastic eyes for safety. Get a tree branch from the yard, strip it of all leaves, place it in a substantial container weighted with water, sand, or rocks, then hand a few bats to create your Halloween atmosphere.
These tiny bats are quoted as perhaps the quickest project ever. It would take only a few minutes to make each one so you can make a ‘mess’ of them, a flock, school, gathering of bats. Then, hang them with sewing thread around the front door, porch, or in the house. They can also be sewed or glued to a sweatshirt to create a seasonal, one of a kind, speciality shirt that you’d pay big bucks for in retail stores. Cover rips or stains on a favorite shirt and you’ll be very popular with the batty kid.
I know it seems like Halloween is far away – but it’s not. Not with all the projects we are all trying to start and finish this time of year in time for gifting. These will work up quickly and will be a hit with the youngsters!
