Lavender Tank: A Perfect Summer Project (with a slight resizing tweak!)

I recently made the Lavender Tank by Audrey Trecasse, and I’m so happy with how it turned out! The design is beautiful, with delicate puff details that give the piece a lovely floral touch—perfect for warm weather. I chose the Curio #3 mercerized cotton in Copper, which has such a nice sheen and texture. It’s light and breathable, just what I wanted for a summer top!

The pattern was a joy to work on. I opted for the intermediate version with the puffs at the body, which added some fun texture and a little more challenge. The instructions were clear, and the photo tutorials were super helpful, especially for making the puffs.

However, I did make a small miscalculation with the sizing. While the tank fits perfectly on me, I made it just a little too snug across my chest. I’ll definitely need to resize it to fit comfortably. But no worries—this just means I’ll gift the one I made to my sister, who will love it! It’s such a lovely, breezy top that I’m sure she’ll get a lot of wear out of it this summer. As for me, I’ll be making a slightly bigger version for myself!

Top of hat (diameter): 6″ (15 cm)
Granny Square size: 3.5″ (9 cm)

Instructions:

Top of Bucket Hat:

Using Color A, make a mc.
Round 1: Work 12 dc into mc. Join with sl st to first dc. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2, work 2 dc in each st around. Join with sl st to first dc. (24 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st around. Join with sl st to first dc. (36 sts)
Round 4: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st around. Join with sl st to first dc. (48 sts)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Granny Square Sides:

Make 5 granny squares using the classic granny square pattern in Color A, Color B, Color C, and Color D.
Each granny square should measure 3.5″ (9 cm) on each side.
Crochet 3 rounds for each granny square.

How To Join Granny Squares:

Arrange the granny squares in a line, alternating colors.
With Color A, join two adjacent squares by working sc2tog through the corresponding stitches along one side of each square.
Continue joining squares until all are connected in a line.
Join the first and last squares to form a circle.

How To Crochet Hat Brim:

Round 1: With Color D, work 1 dc in each st around the bottom edge of the hat. Join with sl st to first dc.
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st around. Join with sl st to first dc. (72 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc.

Join Bucket Hat Top With Granny Square Sides:
