Free Crochet Pattern – Lily Cowl Crochet Pattern

January 2, 2019 by Shellie Wilson

I tested out the intricate Lily of the Valley stitch in my Free crochet Lily Cowl pattern. This stitch is so easy. It’s only a series of double crochets in a one-row repeat. But it looks complex and impressive.

And the detail of the stitching looks beautiful with the Karaoke yarn. It only took about 440 yards of yarn, so it’s a quick and easy pattern to stitch up. I initially liked this yarn because my daughter’s favorite color is purple, and I knew she’d love whatever I made. And I had 4 skeins of it, so it was perfect!

It would make a great gift this holiday season, or keep one for yourself. It’s perfect for chilly weather and the color is beautiful on anyone.

Granny Hood Crochet Pattern Review – A Cozy Granny Square Accessory With Modern Style

If you love granny squares but don’t want to commit to another full blanket, this Granny Hood crochet pattern from Lion Brand is a really fun alternative. It takes that classic granny-square look and turns it into a cozy hooded accessory that feels modern, playful, and actually wearable.

I always love a crochet project that looks a little bit different without being overly complicated, and this one definitely fits that bill.

Because it uses chunky yarn, it’s the kind of project that works up quickly, which makes it great if you’re in the mood for a bit of fast crochet gratification. We all need those projects sometimes, especially when the unfinished pile is already giving us side-eye.

This pattern would suit confident beginners and everyday crocheters who want something stylish but still easy enough to relax into. It has that handmade charm granny squares are known for, but in a fresh way that feels more like a statement accessory than a traditional crochet project.

If you enjoy quick wearable makes, you might also like our roundup of granny square slipper patterns, especially if you’re in the mood for cozy crochet accessories with the same retro feel.

What I like most about this design is that it feels trendy without trying too hard. Granny square fashion keeps popping up everywhere, and this is a nice way to try the look without making a full cardigan or oversized bag. It’s warm, practical, and perfect for anyone who likes crochet pieces with a bit of personality.

Since it’s made with chunky yarn, the finished look is bold and cozy rather than soft and drapey, so that’s worth keeping in mind if you prefer lighter accessories. But if you love modern granny square crochet and quick projects you can actually finish, this one is well worth a look.

You could easily pair this post with other cozy projects too, like our crochet mood blanket patterns or other easy crochet accessories for beginners, if you want to keep the granny-square inspiration going.

It’s a cute pattern, a fun twist on a classic crochet style, and a nice reminder that granny squares can still surprise us.
