Two clever crocheters elected babyghans that immediately grabbed my attention. Here are the two winners:

which was entered by Laura.
And, this beauty

submitted by Kae.
Several people submitted these same designs, but Kae and Laura were first.
I must say there was not a single submission that I didn’t find attractive. They would all make beautiful baby wraps. What was special to me about these two? I’m a sucker for hearts and found that Amy Solvay’s Heart Sampler, undoubtedly inspired by a quilt design, demonstrated a wonderful interplay between the geometries of the squares and the hearts. The Shining Star afghan (and there are others with this same name) designed by Karen J. Hay was made extra special by the carefully placed little crown edging that nicely set off the diagonal stripes.
There were other babyghans that I found to be outstanding. Many demonstrated the designers playful use of color. While I typically prefer bright colors for babies, these two designs appealed to me the most.
I hope Kae and Laura will contact me with their snail mail information so that I can get their prize books in the mail to them. Thanks to all who participated. I suggest that all readers scan the “Comments” section and click on the links to view all the submitted afghans. I’m sure everyone will find new WIM”s.
