As someone who has been obsessed with amigurumi for some time now, I was excited to get my hands on “Mini Crochet Creatures: 30 Amigurumi Animals to Make”. This book is a treasure trove of adorable and unique patterns, perfect for satisfying my addiction to crocheting cute little animals.

The book is organized into six different categories, each with its own set of patterns. From farm animals like pigs and cows, to small critters like ladybugs and butterflies, to woodland creatures like squirrels and foxes, there is a wide variety of patterns to choose from. And with 30 patterns in total, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The book is also beginner-friendly, with clear step-by-step instructions and illustrations to guide you through each pattern. And even if you’re not comfortable working with small scale projects, the patterns are easily adaptable to larger hooks and thicker yarns.

I do love a crochet blanket pattern that looks cheerful without feeling overcomplicated, and the Free Loving Life Crochet Blanket Pattern from Mary Maxim definitely has that bright, happy feel. It’s offered as a free download on their site, which is always a nice little bonus when you’re in the mood to start something new without first talking yourself into another paid pattern.

My overall take? If you enjoy free crochet blanket patterns, bright cotton yarn projects, and blankets that feel a little bit fun and uplifting, this one is worth downloading and having a look at. It has that easy “ooh, that would look lovely draped over a chair” appeal, and honestly, those are often the patterns that jump the queue ahead of all the sensible ones.
