Long ago, before I learned to crochet, I did a fair bit of quilting. I learned to love black, no matter what other colors I chose for a project, because including touches of black really makes the other colors POP! In the lovely and subtle color palette Helen has chosen for this Retro Baby Buggy Blanket, she has demonstrated how the use of black adds a great deal of visual effect to the blanket even when used with pastels.
In the informative article that accompanies the pictures on Helen’s site, she goes into quite a lot of detail about her color choices. As my readers know, I’m color-impaired, so I’m quite inspired by her explanation. The muted palette used here would work well for other projects as well. And, I’m not sure I’d limit this beauty to baby sized. It would make a toasty warm adult sized afghan or throw also, don’t you think?
For lucky readers, Helen is offering this pattern as a free download for the next couple of weeks. You can access the pattern using this link.
Also, please note that the pattern is offered in both UK and US crochet terminology. Thanks for that, Helen!
