I am not a sucker for charity causes. I have my couple that I support, but I don’t usually respond to messages from other organizations to contribute money or goods. The charities I routinely support are umbrella sorts that dispense their funds and services to those in genuine need – like the Salvation Army. At any rate, I typically ignore pleas for my crochet efforts because I’m not a huge fan of deadlines. But, this ’cause’ was sent to me by a good friend – and it’s local (St. Louis area). However, there might be similar efforts going on in your area or you may want to contribute to this one. It aids those healing from violence – and I think all of us know at least one person who has suffered terrible violence in her or his life.

So, I’m spreading the word via my blog. Pull out some blue yarn and your favorite hook and crochet a scarf that will be auctioned to benefit the victims of violence. My crochet club will surely respond with a bundle of scarves. I’ve got a variety of blue yarns in my stash that will go to this cause. Join me!
PS: This got me to thinking about what other ‘good’ crochet charities there might be. I ran across this that might also interest you.
