When I saw this book, tatted Jewelry I thought the designs were crocheted. Imagine my surprise when I actually saw the title and learned that the designs are tatted. I have done some needle tatting, but this book’s designs use the traditional tatting shuttles.
Here’s a very pretty example of tatted jewelry that I found online. Here’s my question: Can we create the same or a very similar design with crochet??
If we can’t crochet these beauties, then we all need to learn another needle art!

You can create similar pieces, but they’ll be ever just similar. Why not learn to shuttle tat? I can’t tackle the needels, but I love my shuttles (and hooks and needles, of course).

I Needle Tat and these earrings don’t look too difficult. Keep them as they are. Sorry I am no help. 🙂

Yes, you can make similiar looking items with a cro-tat hook, though the hooks are really hard to find now. I have been wanting one to make a cro-tat doily from an old Workbasket Magazine and have found them online in Europe and Australia.

Yes absolutely we can come close! And the finer the thread/hook used, the closer it will look. Tatting is so beautiful. I bought a shuttle a couple years back and meant to play with it… just haven’t gotten round to it yet! This looks like a lovely book.
