  • Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver (White & Black)
  • Hook: Size I (5.5 mm) crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Black felt (for eyes and nostrils)
  • Fabric glue

Skull Head (Make 14):

  1. Row 1: With white, ch 12, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (11)
  2. Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc across to last st, 2 sc, turn. (13)
  3. Row 3: Repeat row 2. (15)
  4. Rows 4–5: Ch 1, sc across, turn.
  5. Row 6: Ch 1, dec sc over first 2 sts, sc across to last 2 sts, dec sc, turn. (13)
  6. Row 7: Repeat row 6. (11)
  7. Row 8: Repeat row 6. (9)
  8. Rows 9–11: Ch 1, sc across, turn.
  9. Row 12: With black, ch 1, sc across, turn.
  10. Row 13: With white, ch 1, dec sc over first 2 sts, sc across to last 2 sts, dec sc, turn. (7)
  11. Row 14: Ch 1, dec sc over first 2 sts, sc across to last 2 sts, dec sc, turn. (5)
  12. Round 15: Ch 1, sc across, sc in each row end and st around head, join to beg sc. Fasten off. Leave long strand to sew skulls together.

Finishing Instructions:

  1. Stitch 2 halves of 7 skull heads together to make one long strip.
  2. Repeat for the second strip.
  3. Place both strips right-sides up and stitch together, leaving a 6-inch gap in the middle.
  4. Turn scarf right side out, then close the gap.
  5. Lightly block scarf before adding felt details.

Blocking Your Skull Scarf:

  • Lay scarf flat on an ironing board or hard surface.
  • Place a wet towel over scarf and lightly press with a hot iron (do not move the iron).
  • This creates steam to shape and flatten.
  • Repeat along full length, shaping as needed.
  • Allow to dry completely (about 15 minutes).
Be careful not to over-press—too much heat or pressure can damage the yarn.

Adding the Details:

  • Cut eyes and nostrils from black felt.
  • Attach with fabric glue (or sew for extra durability).

This creepy-cute scarf will be the talk of your Halloween outfit! Pair it with a simple black sweater to let the skulls really stand out.
