The Hattitude Beanie free crochet pattern

Beanies are one of those crochet projects I never seem to get tired of — quick to make, endlessly giftable, and perfect for using up those “too good to throw out” yarn leftovers. The Hattitude Beanie free crochet pattern from Jimmy Beans Wool is a great example of a simple design done really well.

What I like about this beanie is its clean, modern shape. It doesn’t feel fussy or overworked, which makes it incredibly wearable. This is the kind of hat that suits just about everyone — teens, adults, and anyone who wants a handmade beanie that doesn’t scream “handmade” in a bad way. You know the ones I mean.

From a crochet point of view, this is a very satisfying make. The stitch pattern keeps things interesting without being complicated, and it’s repetitive in the best possible way. Perfect for evening crochet when your brain is a little tired but your hands still want to be busy. I can easily see this becoming a go-to pattern when you need a last-minute gift or something quick to add to a winter wardrobe.

Skill-wise, it sits comfortably in that confident beginner space. If you’re happy working in the round and following basic shaping, you’ll be absolutely fine. It’s also a great pattern for experimenting with different yarns — go classic and neutral, or use something bold and textured to give it a completely different look.

Overall, the Hattitude Beanie is one of those free crochet patterns that earns repeat use. Straightforward, stylish, and genuinely enjoyable to make. If you like practical projects that you’ll actually wear (or happily gift), this one is well worth saving.
