Obviously the more colors in your palette, the more variance you get in your overall blanket or crochet afghan. Temperature blankets are a fun way to document a birth year for a child or a special occasion such as a first wedding anniversary.

One of the great things about temperature blankets is that they can be customized to fit any occasion or personal preference. For example, you could create a temperature blanket to commemorate a special event, like a birth year or wedding anniversary. Alternatively, you could choose a specific color palette to match your home decor or personal style.

How many different colors do I need to create a temperature blanket?

The number of colors used in a crochet temperature blanket can vary depending on the desired effect and the temperature range being tracked.

For example, some crafters may choose to use a different color for every degree of temperature change, resulting in a large number of colors being used. On the other hand, others may choose to use a more limited color palette, such as a range of blues for colder temperatures and a range of oranges and reds for warmer temperatures.

In general, most temperature blankets use between 10 to 20 colors, although some may use more or fewer depending on the temperature range being tracked and personal preference. Ultimately, the number of colors used is up to the individual crafter, and can be adjusted to suit their desired effect and level of complexity.

Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQ) for crochet temperature blankets:

What is a crochet temperature blanket?
A crochet temperature blanket is a blanket made by crocheting one row each day using a different color of yarn that corresponds to the temperature on that day. Over time, the blanket takes on a unique pattern and color scheme that reflects the changing temperatures and seasons.

How do I choose the colors for my temperature blanket?
There are several ways to choose the colors for your temperature blanket. Some crafters choose a color palette based on their personal preference or the decor of the room the blanket will be used in. Others choose a palette based on the temperature range they will be tracking. For example, using blues for colder temperatures and oranges and reds for warmer temperatures.

What temperature range should I use for my blanket?
The temperature range you choose for your blanket is up to you. Some crafters choose to track a specific temperature range, such as 40 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, while others track a broader range, such as 20 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The range you choose will depend on your personal preference and the climate in your area.

What size should my temperature blanket be?
The size of your temperature blanket is up to you. Some crafters make small lap-sized blankets, while others make larger blankets that can be used on a bed. The size you choose will depend on the intended use of the blanket and your personal preference.

Do I need to use a specific yarn for my temperature blanket?
No, you can use any yarn you like for your temperature blanket. However, it’s important to choose a yarn that’s comfortable and durable, since the blanket will be used frequently.

How long does it take to make a temperature blanket?
The length of time it takes to make a temperature blanket depends on the size of the blanket and the crochet skills of the crafter. Some crafters may finish a lap-sized blanket in a few weeks, while larger blankets may take several months to complete.

Do I need to crochet every day for my temperature blanket?
No, you don’t have to crochet every day for your temperature blanket. Some crafters choose to crochet one row each week or every few days, while others may crochet several rows at once. The pace you choose will depend on your personal schedule and crochet skills.

I hope this helps answer some common questions about crochet temperature blankets!

I totally fell in love with the first pattern pictured above. It is in the square patterns of pink, mauve, blue, green. As many times as I tried I cannot bring up the pattern. If indeed it is a free pattern I would love to have it, I have knit and crochet for 62 years but that pattern speaks to me personally so I would love to make it. Thank you so much. I appreciate your artistic talents. Kelly.
