Crochet For The Beach Or Pool

July 1, 2014 by jd wolfe

cro beach cover 0614

I love this beach cover up that Ellen over at the Chilly Dog has created.  She used a readily available cotton yarn but I would prefer a cotton blend for a number of reasons.  My experience with cotton worsted yarn is that it will sometimes stretch out of shape when it gets wet.  I also would find it a bit heavy for my taste.  But there are plenty of other yarns that might make great substitutions.  I’d suggest that bamboo or a poly-cotton blend would work well.

Oops!  This sounds like I’m being critical of Ellen’s pattern.  I’m not!  I think it’s a really pretty cover up – just the kind I’d wear around the pool or at the beach.  It’s a unique style and you’ll get lots of attention when you wear it since it’s both unique and attractive.

Ellen offers this as a free pattern for us.  So, get yourself over to her blog and get busy crocheting your own ‘resort’ wear.
