This scarf has been going crazy all over the internet and I was so tired of seeing it on every crochet board asking how to make it that I thought I would just write the answer in a blog post. This scarf or shawl is made in a rectangle with the pockets added on.

I LOVE this boho shawl. It is stylish, versatile, and a little something different.
Recommended Hook Size
- 6.0 mm (J-10) crochet hook
(Perfect for medium #4 worsted weight yarn to get a soft drape with good stitch definition.)
Yarn Type
- Worsted Weight (#4 Medium) Yarn
- Total: approx. 624 yards
- Total: approx. 624 yards
Acrylic is used in the original for affordability, ease of care, and blocking flexibility (via steam).
Gauge
- Moss Stitch Pattern Gauge:
- 14 stitches x 16 rows = 4 inches
- Worked in moss stitch (alternating SC and CH-1)
Note: Gauge is very important for this project because it’s worked lengthwise. Even slight differences in gauge can significantly affect your final shawl length. If your shawl turns out shorter than expected after the first row, try going up a hook size or adjusting your tension.

Are you looking for a quick, easy and stylish way to stay warm during the winter months? Why not make yourself a cozy crochet shawl with pockets? Not only will this shawl keep you warm, but it will also provide you with a handy place to store small items.
Making a crochet shawl with pockets is simple and requires minimal materials. All you will need is a medium to large size crochet hook, some yarn in the color of your choice and a pair of scissors. Once you have all of your supplies, you can begin the process of creating your shawl.
Start by chaining a row of stitches until you have the length you desire. Then, work one single crochet stitch into each chain stitch. When you reach the end of your row, chain one stitch and turn your work. Continue this process until you have the desired width of your shawl.
When you have completed your rows, it is time to add pockets. To do this, chain a row of stitches and begin to work the single crochet stitch into each chain stitch. When you have reached the desired length of the pocket, chain one stitch and turn your work. Continue this process until you have achieved the desired width of the pocket.
Once your pockets are complete, you can begin to assemble your shawl. Start by attaching the pocket to the shawl and then work a single crochet stitch along the edge of the pocket to close it up. Repeat this process for the other side of the pocket.
Now you are ready to start wearing your new shawl! Not only will it keep you warm and cozy, but it will also provide you with a handy place to store small items. So why not give this project a try and make yourself a crochet shawl with pockets this winter? It’s a great way to show off your creativity and stay warm at the same time!

When you wrap your second dc around the first dc are you making a front post crochet?
