JANUARY GIVEAWAY WINNER ANNOUNCED!!

February 5, 2011 by jd wolfe

Here’s the prize:

Here’s what caused the contest:

Who’s the winner?

There were some really good entries for my challenge to send in a link to the afghan that most resembles its name (unlike the poorly named IMO afghan pictured).  This was a challenge for me as well as my readers.  I had to do the judging – and that has been no easy chore.

For the many of you who posted entries like ‘The American Flag’ – well, you were on the right path, but I was hoping for a more abstract relationship between the name and the appearance of the afghan.  And, something more representational than the afghan that started this whole inquiry.

So, with thanks to all who sent links to some great afghans that many of us will enjoy making, I happily announce my favorite.

THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER IS:

Peacock afghan: http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.64374499.jpg posted by Kathryn.  Kathryn, PLEASE CONTACT ME within 48 hours.  Email me ([email protected])with your snail mail address so I can get you book to you.

NOTE:  This pattern appears in the book “Afghan Enchantment “. It’s out of print, but you can probably poke around on the ‘net and find it for sale.

It’s called Peacock Splendor, and it is on page 118 of the book. The design is by Shari L. Jacobson.

Thanks to Jennie Gaskin for this information.

    Tracy,
I certainly hope Kathryn sees this message and has a source for the pattern for the splendid Peacock Afghan. I’ve googled and can’t find it or anything similar. I can also not find Kathryn’s original comment entering this afghan for the Giveaway. Good luck!

My daughter and her boyfriend want me to make this Peacock afghan for them. I need the pattern for it. They need to know how much of each color to buy & send me…

I could just wing it. No pun intended. But the pattern would be a lot easier for me.

    Thank you so much.

    Linda
