NATIONAL CRAFT MONTH CONTEST

March 3, by jd wolfe. 2 Comments

art-of-knit-0309

In honor of National Craft (or Crochet) Month, I’m giving away this DVD (a $19.99 value).  It’s a wonderful way to learn to knit or crochet – like having a great teacher right at your elbow.  It’s 3.5 hours of beginning and intermediate knitting, crochet, and felting, and includes a Sock Workshop (knitted).  This would be great for a beginner or make a nice addition to anyone’s crafting library.

If you want to win this DVD, you’ll have to enter my contest.  Here’s how it goes.

Send me a link to your favorite online project (or one you’ve made and uploaded a picture of) that COMBINES CROCHET WITH ANOTHER ART/CRAFT.  Maybe it’s a knitted bonnet with crochet edging.  Maybe it’s a denim jacket with beading and crochet embellishments.  Maybe it’s a collage created with oil paints and doilies.

I’m open-minded when it comes to crafting.  A hint here is that a project that included recycled or repurposed items will have the inside track.  I LOVE to see how crafters make something beautiful, useful, or just down right interesting out of something from the trash bin or from the curbside.

So, head online and do some searching or craft away and upload a picture to Flikr or to your blog, or some other online venue (that doesn’t require me to join), and send me a link to it.

The contest is open from now through Tuesday, March 31, 2009.

You must send the link to this email address:  jdwln@sbcglobal.net

DO NOT SEND THE LINK OR PHOTO IN AN ATTACHMENT.

BE SURE TO PUT ‘CROCHET CONTEST’ IN THE SUBJECT LINE, PLEASE!  I will respond briefly to each entry so you know that I have received it.

Be sure to include your name, your email address, the LINK, and a brief (100 words or less) description of the project explaining what CRAFT in addition to CROCHET is included in the project, and a clear indication of who created the project so that proper credit can be given.  Obviously a great photograph will be helpful.

The contest is open to anyone, anywhere.  I am the sole judge and I have my preferences – that’s just the way it is.  I will announce the winner of the contest on this blog on Friday, April 3, 2009.  You may enter as many times as you’d like but each entry must be submitted separately.  Feel free to forward this information to anyone on the internet – or elsewhere – to have them enter the contest.

Questions?  Email me and I’ll respond as quickly as soon as I read your email.

Free Crochet Pattern – Fruit Pies

The Fruit Pies crochet pattern is a fun and unique project that is perfect for anyone who loves to work with super bulky weight yarn. This pattern is easy to follow, making it a great option for crocheters of all skill levels, even beginners. The finished product is a set of adorable and realistic-looking fruit pies that are perfect for decorating your home or giving as gifts.

The pattern includes instructions for making three different types of fruit pies: apple, cherry, and blueberry. These pies are made using a combination of basic crochet stitches and simple shaping techniques, so even if you’re new to crochet, you’ll be able to make these with ease.

In addition to the crochet pattern, the kit also includes a list of materials needed to complete the project. The yarn used in the pattern is super bulky weight, which makes the pies nice and plump, and the yarn is available in a variety of colors, so you can make pies in any color you like.

Whether you’re looking for a fun and unique home decor project, or a thoughtful and handmade gift, the Fruit Pies crochet pattern is a great choice. With its easy-to-follow instructions and adorable finished product, you can’t go wrong with this pattern.

There are a few ways to add fragrance to the crochet Fruit Pies pattern. One way would be to add a few drops of fragrance oil to the yarn before starting the crochet project. You can use your favorite scented oil, such as vanilla, cinnamon, or apple, which will infuse the yarn with the fragrance. You can also try adding a few drops of essential oils into the stuffing of the pies after they are done.

Another way to add fragrance to the pies is to create a sachet of dried herbs or spices such as cinnamon sticks, cloves, or nutmeg and place it inside the pie after the project is completed. The scent of the herbs or spices will infuse the pies with a pleasant aroma.

You could also use a scented wax disc or a scented candle to add fragrance to the pies. Simply place the candle or disc next to the pies and allow the scent to permeate the room.

Lastly, you could also use a room spray to add fragrance to the pies. Spray the room with the scent of your choice and the pies will absorb the fragrance.

It’s important to keep in mind that, as these are crochet items, you should be careful when adding fragrance, especially if you are going to give them as a gift, as some people may be allergic to certain fragrances.
