A lot of us are familiar with the Crochet Pattern-A-Day Calendars. Below is an email from

the company that publishes them, with details on how YOU can submit a pattern for publication

and perhaps earn a bit of money. And, who doesn’t like that idea?

Here’s the email I received:

My name is Bethany Thompson and I work for Ripley Designs, Inc.
who is in the process of gathering knitting and crochet patterns for the
2009 Pattern-A-Day Calendars from Accord Publishing. I am contacting you today in
the hopes that you will post a contest flyer somewhere in your
store and/or post contest information on your website to let your customers
know about the design contest and the chance to get their designs
published. If you wish, you can also e-mail the contest flyer to your mailing
list. Patterns are welcome from individuals, shops and yarn companies.

The contest will award cash prizes to first ($500), second
($250), and third($100) place for both the knitting and crochet calendars.
Whoever submits a knitting and crochet design will have the chance to win a
$1,000. All contributors whose patterns are used will receive a 2009
calendar.

Also, some of the past shop participants have offered fun
pattern design/writing classes in order to increase shop traffic and
spread the news about the contest. To learn more, please go to our website at
www.knittingpatternaday.com. If you have any questions, please
e-mail me at bethany@ripleydesigns.com.

    Dear JD,

It’s really interesting. The problem is I dont have the yarn standard…(international). Maybe I could ask them for use my local yarn..

Thank you so much for your info.

    Hugs,
