As usual, we had a fun gathering.  Teresa, Joyce and Melinda were unable to attend but we hope to see them (and others) soon.  Here’s what was offered for Show n’ Tell:

Georgia, the shop owner, showed off the huge bandage on her right wrist (she’s right handed).  Poor Georgia had tripped over the dog’s bed on the way to the shower on Labor Day and spent the rest of the day in the hospital having surgery on  the arm.  Send good thoughts her way, please!

Cathy has also been spending time in the hospital recently with her husband.  She hadn’t had much time to crochet, but did crochet a very handsome Tunisian simple stitch afghan for her husband in a blue/white variegated yarn.  Very handsome, indeed!  She’s now working on a kit to make a layered Christmas tree.

Mandy has had a rough month too!  Had to get back to her main stress-reducer, crochet, so she has been very prolific.  The Infinity shawl she made in Zino sock yarn is positively exquisite.

If I could have stashed it in my bag and walked out with it unnoticed, I would have.  She insists that would make her cry, so my plan came to an abrupt halt ;-).  For her grandniece, Mandy crocheted a lovely baby afghan in dusty lavender, yellow, and orange.  It turned out to be both bright and sophisticated looking.  Also shown were a potato-chip style shawl in a variegated mohair and a cinnamon net shawl of her own creation in Fiddlesticks yarn.  Her WIP is the Chevron Lace Cardigan in gray worsted yarn.  Looking good!

Ronnie shared a beautiful Eva Shawl in Bernat Baby Sport white yarn.  Lovely!  Also, another Etain shrugette in sock yarn, the Honeycomb neck warmer ((which also works as a wide headband/earwarmer) from “Crochet So Fine” in panda wool, cinnamon in color, a holiday yarn 11 stitch ripple scarf, and a stunning Unchained Circles Vest made from 2.5 yarns of purple King Tut.

The free pattern is from the Universal Yarn website.  Her WIP is an entrelac cowl in mini mochi – another beauty!

Rita has been busy doing other things, but did manage to knit up a pair of low cut socks in Reggia sock yarn.  Nice stripes.  Rita has become our Sock Queen!

DJ, who usually gives everything away between meetings, made a point to bring in a few things before she gave them away!  Most impressive was a simple little ripple stitch bag made from some needlepoint wool I had given her – black, blue, and white – ready to be felted with the handles crocheted in!  Can’t wait to see the FO.  She, like me, had fallen hard for the round ripple baby afghan and brought in several to share with us.  One in green cotton for a friend’s daycare and another in Homespun with a cute cap to match.  But, crazy lady DJ who had completed an entire, very attractive, black skirt except for the bottom edging, frogged the ENTIRE thing to start another skirt!  Can you say Glutton For Punishment.  She just didn’t like the other one.  Didn’t she know I would have taken it??  I’m sure she’ll be wearing the ‘new’ skirt for next month’s meeting.

As for me, I had the FO of my daughter’s wedding shawl, the Southbay Shawlette in white super wash Merino Lanett.  No wedding pending.  I just woke up one morning with the project on my mind, bought the yarn at the most recent Yarn Crawl, and got it made (with Mandy’s suggestions to guide me).

I also shared my Diagonal Crazy Stitch baby afghan completed in Universal Yarn’s Patchwork yarn.  That is the yummiest yarn EVER for baby afghans.

So, next month, we look forward to seeing more of the work of our little group.  I purchased some more of the Patchwork yarn – this time in blue/aqua/white and should have it done before long.  We’ll see…..
