Stiff Upper Lip Crochet ??

Wanna be a dapper gent from the days of the Wild West?  There’s a mustache for that.  Wanna look like Fu Manchu?  There’s a mustache for that.  In fact, there are many free patterns for crocheted mustaches online.  This would not have occurred to me – crocheting a mustache.  So, I’m happy to share the mustache wisdom of others.  You can get the free patterns for these three right here.

I bet you didn’t know that you could use those cute crochet patterns for other purposes.  How about a crochet necklace?  Courtney Wiche offers us this free idea and her free pattern.  Pretty cute.  I’d prefer wearing one around my neck to having it on my face!

How about his cute mustache applique.  You can get this pattern here.  I can think of a lot of guys who’d like this.  Great idea for a Barbershop Quartet member’s stocking stuffer – or make one for each member using a different color background.  OTOH, I’d likely take this idea and make a bracelet for myself.  I’m just crazy enough to wear that!  Whaddya think??

This Free Shock Wave Crochet Lap Blanket Pattern from Mary Maxim looks like one of those wonderfully satisfying projects that gives big cozy payoff without fiddly detail. Mary Maxim lists it as a free download, designed as a crochet afghan/lap blanket, with a finished size of 45 x 50 inches.

At the moment, the pattern page shows no reviews, so there is not much customer feedback to go on yet. Still, if you enjoy easy crochet blanket patterns, super chunky crochet throws, or quick lap blanket projects, this one looks like a solid freebie to save.

My overall take? This looks like a fast, cozy, beginner-friendly crochet blanket pattern with plenty of texture and instant-gratification energy. Very much the sort of project you start because it looks easy, then keep going because the yarn feels ridiculously soft.
