When it comes to crochet blankets, choosing the right size is crucial. There are generally three basic sizes of crochet blankets that you can choose from: afghan, lap blanket, and baby blanket. These sizes are ideal for different purposes and occasions.

The afghan blanket is the largest of the three and traditionally measures about 50 inches by 65 inches. This size is perfect for snuggling on the couch, adding warmth and coziness to your home, and makes a great gift for loved ones. An afghan blanket can take a longer time to complete due to its size, but it’s definitely worth the effort.

The lap blanket, on the other hand, is a smaller option and measures about 35 inches by 40 inches. This size is perfect for placing over your legs when sitting or lying down, as it provides just the right amount of warmth without feeling too bulky. It’s also great for outdoor events like picnics and camping trips.

The baby blanket is the smallest option and measures about 25 inches by 30 inches. This size is perfect for wrapping around a baby, providing just enough warmth and comfort without being too heavy. Baby blankets are often given as gifts to new parents or at baby showers, and they can be made with soft and cozy yarns that are gentle on a baby’s delicate skin.

Of course, these are just general guidelines, and you can adjust the size of your crochet blanket according to your preference and needs. Some people prefer larger lap blankets, for example, while others may want a smaller afghan. The important thing is to choose a size that works for you and the purpose of the blanket. Regardless of the size you choose, crocheting a blanket can be a fun and rewarding project that will provide warmth and comfort for years to come.

They are all slight variations on a V stitch pattern. Some have fringes, some do not. Some use 2 strands of yarn. some 3 strands, some 4. Very pretty, but basically all 6 are the same.
