To make this fantastic looking scarf, you start with a little crochet. You crochet a cuff. Just a little cuff. Then, you do the rest. ChiWei over at OneDogWoof has created this stellar scarf and a great tutorial and free pattern so we can each make our own. I think this will be a hit! I like the idea she had originally to upcycle old tee shirts. However, like ChiWei, I’d have to buy tee shirts to have enough cotton jersey for this project, so might as well just save myself the extra step and buy the yard goods. Easy peasy. Get your hook and scissors and make one!
A design like this one just blows me away with its simplicity and its inspiration! Why can’t I come up with these delicious ideas on my own? Well, because I’m a writer and a crocheter – but not really a designer. I make things, original things, from time to time, but never write down the patterns. I try – but then I can’t reproduce the results. So, I especially appreciate a design like this one that grew from ChiWei’s creative brain!
Here’s a clue as to why this scarf is so attractive. The darker ‘cuff’ becomes a focal point! The longitudinal line of the scarf will be flattering on most of us and the focal point will make this a stunner. I can think of all kinds of appealing color combinations that would coordinate nicely with my wardrobe. What about you?
